Natural Treatment for Hives
Hives, medically termed as ‘Urticaria’ is a skin condition that is characterized by reddish itchy mumps and patches on the skin. The reason for the reddish appearance is due to the release of histamine, a chemical that is released in the body when you come in contact with the allergen.
Once you are able to find out the reason for the allergic reaction, it is easier to treat as well as prevent Hives. Here are some of the natural remedies for Hives:
- Milk of Magnesia: Apply some milk of magnesia on the affected parts; this can cause a cooling, soothing sensation that can considerably reduce the itching and the reddish patches.
- Apply calamine lotion: Calamine lotion acts as a good moisturizer to smoothen and nourish the skin which is affected by Hives
- Cool compression: Apply cool compression and take cool baths to get relief from the itch.
- Aloe Vera Gel: Apply the natural moisturizer aloe vera gel or Vitamin E oil to the affected part of the skin at least twice a day so that you can get significant amount of benefits.
- Herbal Tea: Drinking herbal tea can be very therapeutic to cure Hives. It has been found that stress aggravates the problem. By drinking peppermint tea or Chamomile tea, you will be able to soothe your nerves.
- Cornstarch and baking soda treatment: If you are able to stop the itch, Hives is treated faster. Fill a tub with lukewarm water, add ½ cup of baking soda and an equal number of cornstarch. Soak yourself and you will find yourself feeling relieved from the itch for the rest of the day.
